The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) have introduced a new online vehicle registration renewal system. This system is designed to allow vehicle owners to renew their registration from home, eliminating the need to visit LTO offices and stand in long queues.
Online vehicle registration is a process that enables vehicle owners to renew their registration via the internet. The new feature by LTO and LTMS is very convenient as vehicle owners can access the LTO LTMS website, input their details, and pay the registration fees online.
The online vehicle registration system is currently being rolled out in phases across different regions of the Philippines. Vehicle owners who live in areas where the system is available can register their vehicles online, and LTO will mail the new registration documents to their doorstep.
In a statement on Tuesday, LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo “Jay Art” Tugade, said vehicle owners, including private individuals or companies and organizations, may use the LTMS portal to renew the registration of their vehicles “without the need to go to any of the LTO’s district offices.”
This new system is particularly beneficial for vehicle owners, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, as it eliminates the need to visit LTO offices and fall in line, which can be time-consuming and risky. Online vehicle registration enables vehicle owners to renew their registration from the comfort of their homes or offices.
Online vehicle registration also has environmental benefits. By reducing the need for paper-based documentation, it reduces the carbon footprint. To take advantage of online vehicle registration, vehicle owners need to ensure that their vehicle has undergone a mandatory safety and emission inspection. The inspection results will be submitted electronically to LTO for verification, and once verified, the vehicle owner can proceed with the online registration renewal process.
